During the month of November 2011, Ocean City Police responded to numerous complaints of vandalisms, burglaries and thefts that had occurred in the north end of Ocean City.


During the initial investigation, OCPD Forensic Services personnel were able to establish that the various acts of graffiti and vandalism to properties were consistent and may have been committed by the same persons or persons.


Dayshift patrol officers aggressively investigated approximately two dozen different incidents.  During the investigation officers discovered that local juveniles may have been responsible for the damage various properties totaling over $10,000.


Police have identified and charged 9 juveniles who were involved.  The juveniles were all males ranging in age from 9 years to 13 years old.  All the juveniles involved are from the Ocean City area. At this time, a total of 9 juveniles have been charged with crimes ranging from 2nd and 4th Degree Burglary to numerous counts of malicious destruction and theft. Additional arrests are expected in reference to these cases.


All of the juveniles, who were charged, have been released to their parents by the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services.  All the pending charges are under Juvenile Justice review.
