About the event: This year the event will take place on Sunday , August 1st. The start, finish, and transition areas will all take place at the Taylor Bank on 142nd street on Coastal Highway. The swim will be a half-mile, ocean swim in the direction of the current that day. It will be a mass start. The bike will be an out and back loop. The bike will start at 142 and head north on Coastal Highway, into Delaware with a turn around just north of Bethany. Due to heavy congestion in the summertime, the bike course will have the unique wrinkle that all competitors follow the rules of the road. That means bikers must stop at all traffic lights. The run will head north from 142 into Fenwick Island Beach on Wright Street and Bunting Ave. The run is also an out and back. There is a water and Gatorade stop at the turnaround of the run.
The Rain Date will be the next day, August 2nd No refunds will be given due to inclement weather. Typical water temperature is 70 – 76 degrees. Wetsuits will be allowed during the swim if water temp is below 72 degrees. T-shirts will only be guaranteed to those who pre-register. Minimum age to compete is 16.
Race Day: There will be registration race day if the event is not sold out. Registration, numbering, and bike drop will be from 5 pm until 6pm at 142nd street. The race will start at 6:15 pm. Cost for the race is $20, and checks can be made payable to OCBPSRA.
