Ocean City is in search of the official anthem of summer 2012
Ocean City, MD—The Town of Ocean City announces that it is on the hunt for the official Song of the Summer for 2012. The town is holding a contest and asking citizens to write an original song about Ocean City. The Song of the Summer contest will be hosted on the official Ocean City Facebook Page, http://www.facebook.com/OceanCity.
“Everyone associates certain songs with memories – especially when it comes to the beach and vacations,” said Mayor Rick Meehan. “We want to have an official Ocean City anthem for summer 2012 and thought our talented fans would be the best composers. This is going to be a great summer in Ocean City and it will be deserving of an equally great theme song.”
Those who wish to enter the contest must write an original song, record it and send it in to Ocean City via the official Ocean City Facebook page. Contest entries must be completely original composition (both music and lyrics), no longer than three minutes in length, must be submitted by an individual, not a group, and cannot mention any specific business in Ocean City, MD.
After the submission period closes, contest administrators will choose the top three songs and allow the public to vote for the winner on the Facebook page. Entries can be submitted between June 11 and July 2, 2012. The contest winner will win the opportunity to have the song produced and recorded in Ocean City as well as perform the song at Sunfest 2012. The song will also be featured as an Ocean City sponsored free download on the iTunes store. For more information, rules and regulations, visit http://ococean.com/songofsummer or call 410-289-2800.
