Ocean City buses now operating under fall schedule

Town of Ocean City buses are now operating on a fall schedule. From now until October 26, the Coastal Highway “beach bus” service runs approximately every 15 minutes from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. and every 30 minutes from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. In addition, an express service will also be available for Sunfest, transporting patrons directly to/from the Inlet grounds from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. each day, except on Sunday when service will end at 7 p.m. The express bus stop will be located in the south Convention Center parking lot on 40th Street.  As with the buses, exact fare of $1 per-boarding or $3 ride-all-day is required.

The Boardwalk tram, which does not operate during the fall season, will also run during Sunfest.  The tram will run September 19 through September 22, from 10 a.m. until midnight, except for Sunday, September 22, which will operate from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. The tram fare is $3 per person, one way, per boarding.  Following Sunfest, the Boardwalk tram will be closed until May 1, 2014.

The Park-N-Ride bus service is also closed for the season except for Bikefest, Sunfest, and Endless Summer Cruisin.  Unless otherwise noted, frequency of service is approximately every 20 minutes.  When the Park-N-Ride service is not in operation, transportation from the Park-N-Ride to/from the South Division Street Transit Station is provided by Shore Transit. Residents and visitors should refer to Shore Transit’s schedule for arrival and department times, in addition to required fees.

The Coastal Highway winter bus schedule will begin October 27 and run through April 3, 2014. Under the new winter schedule, buses will run every 40 minutes from 6:20 a.m. until 11:35 p.m. and no service will be offered from 11:40 a.m. until 6:15 a.m. on Sundays through Thursdays. Buses will operate every 30 minutes from 6 a.m. to 6 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

Passengers can ride the bus for $1 per boarding or $3 for a ride-all-day pass. Exact fare is required. The $3 ride-all-day pass allows passengers to ride the bus from 6 a.m. the day the ticket is purchased until 6 a.m. the next day.
