A free, large-scale three-day outdoor event, the National Folk Festival celebrates the roots, richness, and variety of American culture. It features over 350 of the nationa’s finest traditional musicians, dancers, craftspeople, and other keepers of culture in performances, workshops, and demonstrations, plus children’s activities, savory regional and ethnic cuisines and craft brews, non-stop participatory dancing, storytelling, parades, and more.

Music, Dance, and Cultural Traditions from Across America
With 35+ groups on seven performance stages, the Maryland Traditions Folklife Area, the Family Activities Area, the Festival Marketplace, and the Festival Food Courts, the National Folk Festival offers a jubilant array of experiences for all ages.

The festival embraces the heritage and traditions of all Americans, from those whose families have been here for centuries, or millennia, to those who have more recently arrived on our shores. Legendary masters, as well as the next generation of dynamic young artists, celebrate the musical soul and cultural roots of America.

Salisbury, Capital of the Eastern Shore
In choosing Salisbury as the National Folk Festival Host City for 2018, 2019, and 2020, the National Council for the Traditional Arts (NCTA) creator and producer of the National Folk Festival since its founding in 1934, recognized Salisbury’s and the region’s unique cultural assets and strong community spirit.

Walk for Recovery
Sep 7 @ 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Walk for Recovery

September 7, 2019

The Atlantic Club along with a new partner, the Worcester County Warriors Against Opiate Addiction, will host a “Walk for Recovery” on Saturday, September 7, 2019 from 2pm to 5pm on the Ocean City Boardwalk from 27th Street to the Inlet. Registration will begin at 1pm. It is in conjunction with Worcester Goes Purple, which is highlighting addiction awareness during national recovery month. Due to the current addiction epidemic in our community, we need financial support for 24-hr recovery services, resources to assist those going to and returning from treatment along with non-judgmental caring of those experiencing addiction. It has never been more important than today!

It will take the entire community working together to erase the stigma that is associated with the disease of addiction. You can support this cause by making a simple donation as a sponsor ranging from $100 to $1000 and show off your business logo on the participant tee-shirts. Or register as a participant or team! Registration fee is $20 per individual (first 50 will get a free T-shirt). Join us…create a team, wear purple and Walk to celebrate and advocate for recovery. All the proceeds of this event will go towards helping Worcester County individuals/families touched by the disease of addiction. The Atlantic Club offers college scholarships to Worcester County High School students who have been affected by addiction. The Warriors provide scholarships for individuals to get into rehab.
