Ocean City will be glistening in green as the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival, sponsored by the Delmarva Irish-American Club, marches down Coastal Highway on Saturday, March 14. This Ocean City tradition, which began in 1980, has grown to become the second-largest St. Patrick’s Day Parade in the state, in addition to becoming a seasonal kick-off for many local businesses.
The procession begins at noon at 57th Street and marches south on Coastal Highway to the 45th Street Shopping Center, where the viewing and judging stands will be located.
The 45th Street Shopping Center will be once again transformed into a spirited Irish festival complete with live entertainment, Irish apparel and plenty of food and drink. Spectators can enjoy the free-admission festival beginning at 11 a.m. and running until 3 p.m.
The Delmarva Irish-American Club was founded in 1980. The first membership drive resulted in 75 members; today, the membership totals more than 300 and is open to anyone who is Irish, of Irish descent or just likes things Irish. The club has awarded approximately $300,000 for scholarships to local students from the proceeds of previous parades.

The Ocean City Life-Saving Station will be participating in Smithsonian magazine’s 16th Annual Museum Day. The museum will provide free entry to anyone presenting a Museum Day ticket on Saturday, April 4, 2020.

Boardwalkin’ for Pets

Join us for our annual walk, rain or shine at the Boardwalk!
The Worcester County Humane Society is a 501(c)(3) private non-profit organization. They are a no-kill animal shelter, and operate mainly on donations. Boardwalkin’ for Pets is our largest fundraiser held every year. All money raised is used to care for the many dogs and cats that call the shelter home. In addition to providing everyday care, their animals also receive veterinary care, which can be quite expensive. Their animals receive loving care until they are adopted into suitable homes!

Maryland International Kite Festival

Ocean City, Maryland and The Kite Loft welcome you to come and fly on the beautiful beaches along our famous boardwalk. The Maryland International Kite Exposition will feature three days of kite flying on the beaches of Ocean City, Maryland. Throughout the festival there will be exhibitions and demonstrations including stunt and power kite lessons, Giant kite displays and much more! The festival will showcase some of the best kite flyers from around the world. Kites of all shapes and sizes will be on display. On behalf of The Town of Ocean City and The Kite Loft we welcome everyone to join in the festivities. Bring your family for several days of good old fashion kite flying.
All activities are wind and weather dependent. Dry weather & a steady breeze are important for kite flying. It is also possible to have too much wind.

OC Air Show

The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds will headline the 2020 OC Air Show, June 13-14, 2020 over the beach and boardwalk of Ocean City, Maryland. The U.S. Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron are the Air Force’s Ambassadors in Blue. They represent the 500,000 men and women of the Unites States Air Force.
The Thunderbirds plan and present precision aerial maneuvers to exhibit the capabilities of modern, high-performance aircraft and the high degree of professional skill required to operate those aircraft. The Thunderbirds squadron is composed of eight pilots (including six demonstration pilots), four support officers, four civilians and more than 100 enlisted personnel.
The Thunderbirds air demonstration is a mix of formation flying and solo routines. The four-jet diamond formation demonstrates the training and precision of Air Force pilots, while the two solo aircraft highlight some of the extreme capabilities of the F-16. In all, the pilots perform approximately 40 maneuvers in a single demonstration. An aerial demonstration lasts 60 minutes with an additional 15 minutes for the ground show before takeoff.
During a typical season the team performs no more than 70 air demonstrations in 35 cities throughout the nation. More than 280 million people in all 50 states and 57 countries have seen the red, white and blue Thunderbirds jets.
