ELECTRONIC MARYLAND PUBLIC INFORMATION ACT (MPIA) REQUEST

Before submitting a MPIA request, please search the Town’s online records first to see if the information you are requesting is already electronically available. In addition to City Clerk records, some Engineering, Finance, Planning, Zoning and Plumbing records are accessible on our website.

To send us an electronic MPIA request, please follow the below steps.

  1. Download the Request Form 
  2. Once downloaded, open the file and complete the top portion.
  3. Save the completed form to your desktop.
  4. Open your email client and send the saved document as an attachment to [email protected]Put “MPIA” in the subject.

MPIA Fee Schedule

The Maryland Public Information Act allows an agency to charge a reasonable fee for copies of public records.

An agency may also charge a reasonable fee for searching for a public record – a charge that may include the time required for locating and reviewing the record. The first two hours of search time are free, but an extensive search may prove time-consuming and therefore expensive.

Research and Preparation Fees

Hours 1 and 2: Free

2+ Hours: The actual cost of a response must be calculated by prorating the salaries of staff and attorneys involved in the response by the actual time they spent searching for and preparing the record for disclosure.
