Overview of Investigations/Bomb Squad

The Office of the Fire Marshal investigates the origin and cause of fires within the Town of Ocean City. The office is also responsible for determining criminal responsibility for intentional fires. Investigators often work with detectives and the Forensic Services Unit from the Ocean City Police Department. All Investigators are certified as Fire Investigators through the Maryland and National Fire Service Personnel Qualifications Board.

The Ocean City Bomb Squad was established in 2001. The Bomb Squad is accredited by the Federal Bureau of Investigations, and is tasked with responding to suspicious package and explosive related calls within the Town of Ocean City and Worcester County.
