FIRE REPORT REQUESTS

The release of fire reports and related information is limited to “Parties in Interest,” or those named in the report (i.e. owners, occupants, insurance representatives of owners/occupants, etc.). Three (3) types of reports, relating to the fire investigation, may be generated:

Insurance Summary Report:

Generated and released by the Fire Marshal’s Office, this report contains information typically needed by owner’s and insurance representatives for initial claims processing.

The report contains the following basic information:

  1. Fire & Police Report Numbers
  2. Date/Tim of Incident
  3. Name, Location, Trade Name of Structure
  4. Owner Information
  5. Occupant Information
  6. Cause of Fire (Category & Contributing Factors)
  7. Damage Assessment

**Include standard fee of $5.30 with written request.

Release of this report is limited to owners, occupants/leases, and insurance companies representing these entities.

Investigative Report:

Maintained within the Ocean City Police Department’s records system, and released by OCPD Records Section based upon their requirements. This report contains the complete origin, cause, and follow-up investigative information on an incident investigated by Fire Marshal’s Office investigators.

It may also include any evidence taken, such as photographs, video, etc.

Release of this report is limited to owners, occupants/leases, and insurance companies representing these entities. This report will not be released for any open investigation.

NFIRS (National Fire Incident Reporting System) Report:

Generated and released by the Ocean City Fire Department: Volunteer Division, this report contains the response and operations information relating to the Fire Department’s suppression activities on an incident.
