Public Works/Construction Division

Heavy Equipment Operator

Operates a variety of heavy equipment including performing of preventive maintenance on all equipment used. Daily operation of equipment would include: wheeled and tracked equipment over ten tons, loader over five tons, excavator, dump truck, backhoe, and snow plow. When not operating equipment, will perform road maintenance, grading, paving, installing underground utility systems such as water mains, services, storm drains, sewer mains, and perform repairs on all. Must have a valid Class “A” CDL with endorsements for air brakes, combination vehicles, tankers and Haz Mat endorsement preferred; current DOT physical card, and supply a copy of current driving record. Must have high school diploma or GED. Ability to lift weight up to 50 lbs. and pass a post offer drug test. Entry level salary is $38,837 plus benefits. This position is open until filled.

Recreation/Parks – Eagles Landing Golf Course

Turf Equipment Manager

Eagles Landing Golf Course is set along the coastal bays of the Atlantic Ocean, just two miles from Ocean City, Maryland. The course is owned and operated by The Town of Ocean City, MD and is regarded as one of the best public golf courses in the Mid-Atlantic. We are currently seeking an experienced and professional golf course equipment manager. Qualified applicants will be required to operate, maintain and repair a wide variety of gasoline and diesel-powered equipment specific to the maintenance of a golf course at a high level of quality. The Equipment Manager will oversee the maintenance facility campus to be sure it is a clean, safe and professional working environment. The Equipment Manager is responsible for accurate fuel records, maintaining parts and supply inventories and facility upkeep. This individual will be required to perform golf course maintenance tasks as needed and will also occasionally make mosquito control applications. Qualified applicants will have graduated high school, have some college, technical school or trade certification related to this position and no less than three to five years’ experience managing golf course, grounds, farm or industrial equipment and or a background in automotive/truck repair. Golf course equipment reel adjusting and grinding experience is preferred but we will train the right candidate if needed. Must have a valid driver’s license and pass a pre-employment drug test. The Town of Ocean City offers a very competitive salary range depending on qualifications and experience, $44,638-$66,264 plus a comprehensive benefit package. Recreation & Parks Department

Crew Leader

Leads work crews and individual workers engaged in the maintenance, repair and improvement of parks, recreation facilities, athletic fields, public grounds, landscapes and greenways, irrigation, and designated public areas. Assists and provides support for Recreation Programs and Special Events Department. Works closely with Parks Supervisors and Parks Superintendent to perform related administrative functions as needed. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in parks management, landscaping, horticulture or related field. Excellent problem solving skills, ability to foster a harmonious work environment and ability to work in a fast paced environment are required. Must be well versed in, willing and capable of performing all tasks associated with park maintenance operations. Supervisory experience and computer skills are desirable. State of Maryland Dept. of Agriculture Certification in Right-Of-Way & Weed or Turf or Exterior Ornamentals, State of Maryland Professional Fertilizer Applicator, and Maryland Roadside Tree Care Expert certification are required within eighteen (18) months of appointment, contingent upon adequate training / testing opportunities. Candidate must possess a valid driver’s license with less than four (4) points, pass a pre-employment drug test and background check. Starting salary is $42,614 plus benefits. Wastewater Department

Plant Operator I

Responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Wastewater Treatment Plant. Operating experience in a wastewater facility is desirable, but not necessary. Familiarity with rotating mechanical equipment is a plus. Responsibilities will include the following: inspect outlying pumping stations, check equipment, read meters and gauges, maintain logs and perform basic level laboratory tests plus housekeeping duties. Shift work is required. Candidate must be able to work in adverse weather conditions and lift up to 50lbs. with assistance. Must have high school diploma or GED, possess a valid driver’s license and submit a 3-year driving record; pass a post offer drug test, respiratory physical and background check. Once hired employee must actively seek and obtain a permanent Class 5 Wastewater Operator’s license. Entry-level salary is $36,930 plus benefits. This position is open until filled.

Public Works/Transportation

Transportation Supervisor

Provides instructions and technical supervision to bus operators, dispatchers, and other support personnel. Facilitates on-time performance of the transit services, provides excellent customer service, and is responsive to the needs of the general public and colleagues in the workplace. Utilizes technology in relation to the operation of the bus service, provides both in-service and classroom training and CDL-on-road training. As full-time supervisor serves as a lead supervisor for the crew of seasonal supervisors, acts in the absence of the operations manager, and may be called upon in response to safety or emergency operations on a 24-7 basis. Participates in Special Event planning and operations. Assists in the liaison of fleet services with the Internal Coordinator, the Full-time lead Dispatcher, and the administrative staff as needed. Operates a transit bus as needed and all other duties as assigned. High school diploma or GED required. One to three months experience in a related position. Must have a Commercial Driver’s License (Class B) with passenger and air brake endorsements. Must have current DOT physical card. Must pass a background check and post offer drug test. The salary range starts at $37,871 plus benefits. This position is open until filled.

Tourism & Business Development Department

Director of Sales

The Director of Sales position is a critical high-level position reporting to the Director of Tourism & Business Development. This position is responsible for executing the objectives of the department to help transform Ocean City into a year-round destination. The Director of Sales will work to position the Town as a premier meeting, convention, and exhibition destination and will lead a dynamic effort to ensure that the Ocean City Convention Center and other city-wide events are maximized to produce the highest possible event, attendance, and revenue models. This position will also work in partnership with all city departments, businesses, promoters, etc. to deliver and drive convention, meeting, and sports business to those properties. Preferred minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree with an emphasis in marketing, business admin, tourism, or related field along with at least 5 years of directly related experience. Must pass a post offer drug test and background check. Extensive experience in tourism marketing; master’s degree in relevant field; proficient in CRM and CMS is preferred.

Starting pay rate is $81,604 depending on experience. The Town offers a competitive benefits package.
