Performs work involving rough and finish carpentry. Job duties involve responsibility for the construction, maintenance and alterations as required. Skilled in the use of standard carpenter tools and power-driven woodworking machinery. The work is inspected for satisfactory compliance with instructions, although normally work is performed independently without supervision or close review. Candidate must be a graduate from an accredited high school or GED; four years as a journeyman carpenter, or completion of a standard high school course in carpentry is preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience. Public Works/Maintenance

Maintenance Worker

Labor involves cleaning streets, boardwalk and beach of debris, painting curbs and street lines, installing signs and parking machines. Assists in all City special events and other maintenance duties as assigned. This position may require the employee to operate pick-up trucks, 4-wheel drive trucks, flat beds and other motor equipment up to 10 tons including bobcats, street brooms, beach tractors. Schedule varies to include nights, weekends, and holidays. Successful applicant must possess a high school diploma or (GED), valid driver’s license and pass a post offer drug test. Water Department

Water Plant Operator
Unlicensed or Licensed

Entry-level technical position at the water treatment plant. Serves as an operator in the treatment plant doing related work on demand under the general supervision of a licensed operator. Works rotating shifts. Includes work on or in three water plants, one booster pump station, seven elevated water towers and twenty-four wells. Must have high school diploma; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must attain a Maryland Department of the Environment Class IV Water Treatment Operator license within 48 months, and obtain Water Sampler Certification within one year of employment. Must possess a valid driver’s license and submit a 3-year driving record; pass a post offer drug test. Unlicensed starting pay range is $33,391-$38.053, licensed starting pay range $38,837-$48,039 depending on certifications and experience. This position is open until filled.

Career Fire/EMS Division

Firefighter/EMT IV Paramedic

Application and Completed packages must be received before August 8th at 3PM. 

We are looking for skilled Firefighter/ALS clinicians to become full-time members of our team. Individuals must be at least 18 years of age and meet the following requirements at the time of application:

1. High School Diploma or GED.

2. Valid National Registry Paramedic / Maryland Paramedic/ Maryland Cardiac Rescue Technician

3. Maryland Paramedic license preferred. Successful candidates who do not possess a Maryland Paramedic License must obtain a Maryland license or certification within 30 days of employment.

4. Maryland Firefighter 1 certification, National Pro-Board Firefighter 1 certification or equivalent at the time of application.

5. Valid Maryland Class B driver’s license or the equivalent at the time of application with 2 years driving experience and a satisfactory driving record strongly preferred. Applicants without a current Class B (Non-CDL or CDL) license must obtain one within the terms outlined in your offer letter.

6. One year of validated experience in driving and operating an emergency vehicle in the emergency mode is preferred. EVOC Certification is preferred.

7. Current BLS Healthcare Provider or Professional Rescuer CPR certification.

8. Maryland Hazardous Materials Operations certification or equivalent at the time of the application. Successful candidates who do not possess this certification, must obtain this certification within 1-year of employment.

Wastewater Department

Plant Operator I

Responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Wastewater Treatment Plant. Operating experience in a wastewater facility is desirable, but not necessary. Familiarity with rotating mechanical equipment is a plus. Responsibilities will include the following: inspect outlying pumping stations, check equipment, read meters and gauges, maintain logs and perform basic level laboratory tests plus housekeeping duties. Shift work is required. Candidate must be able to work in adverse weather conditions and lift up to 50lbs. with assistance. Must have high school diploma or GED, possess a valid driver’s license and submit a 3-year driving record; pass a post offer drug test, respiratory physical and background check. Once hired employee must actively seek and obtain a permanent Class 5 Wastewater Operator’s license. Entry-level salary is $36,930 plus benefits. This position is open until filled.

Public Works/Construction Division

Heavy Equipment Operator

Operates a variety of heavy equipment including performing of preventive maintenance on all equipment used. Daily operation of equipment would include: wheeled and tracked equipment over ten tons, loader over five tons, excavator, dump truck, backhoe, and snow plow. When not operating equipment, will perform road maintenance, grading, paving, installing underground utility systems such as water mains, services, storm drains, sewer mains, and perform repairs on all. Must have a valid Class “A” CDL with endorsements for air brakes, combination vehicles, tankers and Haz Mat endorsement preferred; current DOT physical card, and supply a copy of current driving record. Must have high school diploma or GED. Ability to lift weight up to 50 lbs. with assistance and pass a post offer drug test. Entry level salary is $38,837 plus benefits. Service Center Garage

Vehicle Equipment Technician II

The ideal candidate for this position is a skilled mechanic at a certified level, with experience in the maintenance and repair of gasoline and diesel equipment. A mechanic in this classification diagnoses and makes mechanical/electronic repairs on all sizes of gasoline and diesel equipment with little supervision from the Automotive Services Manager. Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma, completion of an apprenticeship in automotive mechanics and 5 years of experience in service and maintenance repair of vehicles, ASE certification for heavy duty vehicles or the ability to obtain within one year.

Candidates who do not meet the above qualifications, but possess the mechanical aptitude and ambition to learn and grown into the role, may be considered for a Vehicle Tech I position, with the goal of promotion to the Vehicle Tech II position within 12 Months. Both positions require the ability to obtain a CDL with Class A endorsement within one year of employment. Must pass a pre-employment drug test. Copy of last 3 year driving record is required.

Vehicle Tech I: $42,614- $52,861
