VOLUNTEER

OC Recreation Boosters

Volunteers are one of our most valuable assets. Without them we would not be able to offer the large variety of recreation programs we do, at a reasonable cost to both residents and visitors.

The OC Recreation Boosters is a non-profit, community organization made up of area residents and representatives from local community organizations that support youth recreation programs offered by the Ocean City Recreation and Parks Department.

The OC Rec Booster’s current officers are:

Steve Jarczynski, President; Harry How, Vice President; Norma Simmons, Treasurer Kathy Jarczynski, Secretary

Members representing organizations: Kate Gaddis, Recreation and Parks; Charlie Deal, OC-Berlin Optimists Club; Greer Groves, Ocean Pines Swim Team.

Ocean City Recreation Boosters organize events and engage in fundraising activities that help to lower the fees for recreation programs.  In addition to fundraising, the volunteers also offer their time and talents at a variety of events hosted by Ocean City Recreation and Parks, including Halloween Spook-Out, Easter Bunny Fun Shop and athletic tournaments.

Ocean City Recreation Boosters are critical to the continued success of Ocean City Recreation programs. If you are interested in joining the OC Recreation Boosters or if your business would be interested in helping with fundraising efforts, please call 410-250-0125, email o[email protected], or Like us on Facebook at OC Rec Boosters to keep up with the OC Rec Boosters upcoming events!

Youth Sports Coaches

Our youth sports leagues rely heavily on volunteer coaches.  Coaches help teach the fundamentals of the sport, encourage participation and ensure equal and fair participation for everyone on the team.  They help relay messages to families in the event of a schedule change.  Most importantly, they serve as a role model to young athletes as we instill the values of Sportsmanship, Teamwork, Dedication and Hard Work.

All coaches will complete a certification program prior to the start of the season.  Each coach over the age of 18 must also pass a criminal background check which is paid for by the Town of Ocean City Recreation and Parks Department.

We provide training and resources for you to be successful.  Many of our coaches choose to co-lead the team with another parent.  This is allowed with permission from the Recreation Coordinator or Recreation Supervisor in charge of the league.  Rest assured your child will be placed on  your team (unless you request otherwise).

Please consider giving back to your community, sharing your passion for sports, and teaching life lessons to local kids.  To apply, please complete the Volunteer Application with Background Check Consent Form.
