OCEAN CITY, MD – (April 17, 2017): The Ocean City Police Department is advising citizens to expect traffic delays the morning of April 22, 2017, during the National MS Society’s Walk MS: Ocean City 2017 event. The event consists of a 5K and a one-mile walk which will both begin at the Jolly Roger Amusement Park parking lot at 30th Street. The walk will begin at 10 a.m.
Walkers will exit the parking lot at 30th Street, cross Philadelphia Avenue and then travel south on Baltimore Avenue. Walkers will then turn east onto 27th Street where they will enter the boardwalk. Walkers will remain on the boardwalk until the turnaround point at 9th Street when they will take the same course back to the finish line at Jolly Rogers on 30th Street. A traffic detail will be set up to assist in participants walking to the boardwalk, however, participants will be required to follow all pedestrian traffic laws on their return to the finish line.
Motorists should expect minor traffic delays in the area of the event and are urged to use caution and yield to pedestrians. Participants and spectators are asked to use crosswalks while crossing roadways and wait for the signal to change before crossing.
