As Mayor, my approach to diversity is simple – it’s about embracing everyone by encouraging a culture that is safe, welcoming and respectful of all. I believe diversity and inclusion among employees and within our community is critical to our success.

In order to accomplish these goals, we will focus on the following initiatives:

Recruitment: Work to improve diversity and equal opportunity by actively seeking employees with diverse backgrounds. This includes developing a recruiting strategy to expand our hiring pool and ensure we incorporate workforce diversity best practices.

Retention: Develop and maintain a workforce environment that supports and nurtures every individual throughout his or her tenure.

Community Relations: Many of the greatest ideas and discoveries come from a diverse mix of minds, backgrounds and experiences, and we are committed to cultivating a community inclusive environment by building relationships in our community and beyond.
