Ocean City Beach Patrol Captain Arbin Celebrates 50 Years
WHAT: The Town’s Emergency Services Department, the Ocean City Beach Patrol, and the Ocean City Lifesaving Museum are planning a tribute recognizing Captain Arbin’s 50th Anniversary Season on the Ocean City Beach Patrol. The festivities will occur at the Inlet Beach on July 17th, beginning at 9:30 a.m. A complete Run of Show is below.
WHEN & WHERE: Sunday, July 17th, 2022 (Captain Arbin’s actual 50th anniversary date)
- 9:30 a.m.: Meet on the Inlet beach at the Rock Jetty for a reenactment of Captain Arbin’s first day of work.
- 9:45 a.m.: Captain Arbin drags his circa 1973 stand into location, climbs to the top, and sends a semaphore “we are UP at 10:00” (This is a reenactment of his first day on the beach 50 years ago to the day)
- 10:00 a.m.: WBAL’s Lacey Griffith will host a Press Conference on the beach behind the lifeguard stand.
- 10:30 a.m.:The celebration moves to the Lifesaving Station Museum, where a display of Captain Arbin’s history with the beach patrol is featured and available for public viewing. Light refreshments are available during the event.
WHO: City dignitaries, friends, and family are welcome to come to the inlet to watch the reenactment and join us in celebrating the 50 years of Captain Arbin’s dedication to the Town of Ocean City, saving lives and keeping Ocean City’s residents and visitors safe.
