(June 1, 2015) – The Town of Ocean City is becoming more digital, joining the growing world of mobile users worldwide. With more residents and visitors turning to their smartphones and tablets to send and receive information, the Town of Ocean City is continuing to increase mobile efforts.
The newest addition to the town’s mobile resources allows users to report non-emergency issues, contact town employees and have direct access to social media links, events and the town’s radio station. Users can choose to create an account with contact information or provide information anonymously.
Currently, the app is primarily used by the police department; however the ability to expand to various departments is expected in the near future. “Citizens often hesitate to call the police department or City Hall about non-emergency issues,” commented City Manager David Recor. “This app allows residents and visitors to report a number of issues that might otherwise be overlooked. It’s a great resource for our community and our employees.”
Residents, businesses and visitors are encouraged to use the app to report issues such as abandoned vehicles, animal complaints, ordinance violations and problem properties. The app is free on both iTunes and Google Play or can be downloaded by visiting http://oceancitymd.gov.
