Travel Advisory: Baltimore Avenue Fall Project
Ocean City, MD (September 4, 2024): The Town of Ocean City will begin working on the next phase of the Baltimore Avenue Corridor Project. This portion of the project will focus on Baltimore Avenue between 15th and 33rd Street. The Public Works Department plans to start working on this project at the beginning of September. Weather permitting, the work will be limited to Monday through Thursday each week.
The project’s first phase will start on the southbound lane side of Baltimore Ave, starting at 33rd Street and working south. During this timeframe, public works will replace sewer maintenance hole lids. Once the southbound lane is complete, Public Works will transition to the northbound lane of Baltimore Ave from 15th to 33rd Street.
In addition to the sewer-related improvements, Public Works will complete the sidewalk project on the east side of Baltimore Avenue from 26th to 33rd Street. The project will focus on ensuring the sidewalks are ADA-compliant.
The final aspect of this project, the milling and resurfacing of Baltimore Ave, is anticipated to begin on Monday, October 14, 2024. This effort is weather-dependent and will typically occur Monday through Thursday. If weather causes delays during the week, Public Works may continue the work on Friday. Residents and visitors can anticipate the milling and resurfacing in about four-block-long intervals. During the milling and paving, north and southbound travel in those blocks will not be available. Cross traffic from east to west and vice versa will be limited and at the discretion of a traffic flagger.
We want to encourage everyone to use alternative routes during this project if possible. If you are unable to use alternative routes, please ensure you add additional travel time to your commute. Remember to drive slowly and stay alert for workers when traveling within a construction zone.
