Ocean City Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit Conducts Traffic Detail Up North
Ocean City, MD- (April 4, 2022): During the month of March, the Ocean City Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit conducted a traffic enforcement detail on the north end of town. The Ocean City Police Department has received numerous complaints about vehicles speeding through a north-end neighborhood.
The Traffic Safety Unit (TSU) conducted increased enforcement efforts from February 27 through March 31, 2022. The enforcement area was concentrated on the 142nd Street corridor, which connects Coastal Highway to Delaware Route 54, through an Ocean City residential neighborhood.
During this time, members of TSU and patrol conducted approximately 25 traffic stops. From these stops, officers issued thirteen (13) speeding citations, three (3) speeding warnings, seventeen (17) citations for various violations, eighteen (18) warnings for various violations, and made one (1) arrest for an active arrest warrant. The speed limit on 142nd Street is 25 mph. The highest speed officers observed during this enforcement was 44 mph. Over the last month, officers have spent approximately fourteen (14) hours on this detail.

The Ocean City Police Department is prepared and proactively handling criminal violations and citizen complaints of illegal activity to ensure the safety of our residents and visitors.
