WHY JOIN OCEAN CITY CERT?

During CERT Basic Training classes, you will…
learn team building skills, first aid, CPR, stop the bleeding, light search and rescue, hazardous materials awareness, and fire suppression. What you learn will help you keep yourself, your family, and your community safe before, during, and after a disaster. The course will also educate you on disaster preparedness and assessing damage.

If you become a member of Ocean City CERT, you will…
become a trusted and trained community member who can be activated to help in a disaster or emergency if first responders are not readily available. You will also assist with special events, contribute to community safety projects, and support first responders. In addition to this, you will participate in various types of training and exercises.

How do CERT members know what to do?
As a CERT member, you will receive comprehensive training and certification in disaster response skills. The CERT Basic Training course is a combination of classroom education and hands-on training, ensuring that you are well-prepared for any situation. To maintain your skills and knowledge, periodic training and refresher classes are also offered, keeping you up-to-date and ready to respond effectively.

You must be a US citizen (born or naturalized) or a legal immigrant with a temporary or long-term (permanent) resident status in good standing.
