School Fire Prevention Activities
The Ocean City Fire Department annually teaches fire safety education at local daycares and elementary schools. Annually, we reach over 700 children and teachers. In addition, our firefighters and fire marshals take our education program to a whole new level by providing students with hands-on learning opportunities that build upon what they learn in the classroom.
The Ocean City Fire Department annually hosts a Junior Fire Camp Program for grade school children in collaboration with Ocean City Recreation & Parks. This program supports fire, EMS, and police departments by fostering relationships and engaging youth in learning about and ultimately becoming members of the emergency services career field. The OCFD Junior Fire Camp program gives local and visiting children the chance to learn about local fire, rescue, and emergency medical services response organizations in a safe, controlled, educational, and fun way and provides them with valuable life skills such as teamwork, leadership, responsibility, and commitment.
