Investigation to Sunday Crash On-Going by OCPD Traffic Safety Unit
Ocean City, Maryland – (May 3, 2021): Ocean City Police Traffic Safety Officers are continuing to investigate a crash that occurred on the Rt. 90 Bridge on Sunday, May 2. The crash, which involved five vehicles, sent eight people to the hospital, including a 2-year-old child who was ejected from a pickup truck with her car seat, landing in the bay below. A heroic witness jumped from the bridge into the bay and rescued the child, who was then flown by Maryland State Police Trooper 4 to John’s Hopkins Hospital.
Due to the complexity of the crash, the investigation is ongoing by the OCPD’s Traffic Safety Unit. Preliminarily it appears that multiple crashes may have occurred. At the time of this release, all of the individuals transported to the hospital have been released, with the exception of the 2-year-old child who remains in stable condition at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
