The Town of Ocean City Beautification Committee is appointed and commissioned by the Mayor and City Council to help determine the needs of the town for the planting, maintenance, and protection of all trees on the streets and in the parks of Ocean City and to to make referrals for the enforcement of the landscape code.  They are, also, the appeals board for city landscape code violations.

Donna Greenwood serves as the Chairman of the committee and the members are Jennifer Albright, Eleanor Curcio, Linda Herzberg, Joyce Melocik, Nancy Smith, Toni Wagner, Steve Genua, and Donna Reid.

The Beautification Committee works in partnership with the Department of Recreation and Parks to bring the beauty of the trees and color to our barrier island town.  For many years, Ocean City has been the recipient of the National Arbor Day Foundation’s Tree City USA Award and the MD P.L.A.N.T. Award administered by the Maryland Community Forest Committee.

Some of our projects as as follows:

Reflections of Life Tree metal sculpture in the Roland E. Powell Convention Center on 40th St. and Coastal Hwy.  Leaves or stepping stones can be purchased to honor or remember a special person or group.  Contact Toni Wagner.

Partnerships in Bloom that places beautiful Ocean City blue planters at selected businesses which have no planting areas on the Boardwalk or around town. Contact Steve Genua.

Decorating City Hall on 3rd St. and Baltimore Ave. for the holiday season and the Mayor’s Open House on New Year’s Day when the public is invited.  Contact Donna Greenwood

Arbor Day which will is celebrated at Northside Park with Ocean City Elementary School in April.  In addition to skits, poems and singing by the 2nd graders, Tree City USA and MD P.L.A.N.T. Community Awards are presented to the Mayor.  The public is invited.  Light refreshments served.  Contact Donna Greenwood.

Beauty Spot Awards presented to those properties which have been outstandingly planted.  To nominate a location for an award please contact any member of the committee.
