OCEAN CITY POLICE ARREST 2 INDIVIDUALS FROM A CDS DISTRIBUTION CASE
Ocean City, MD- (May 20, 2021): During the month of February, the Narcotics Unit initiated a controlled dangerous substance (CDS) distribution investigation into a local individual, Melody Hines, who was reportedly selling heroin and/or fentanyl out of various Ocean City hotels.
On May 19, 2021, Hines was observed running a red light on Coastal Highway on the north end of town. Officers initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. During the traffic stop, officers requested K-9 assistance. Our new K-9 Jappie and his handler responded to the traffic stop to scan the vehicle. K-9 Jappie gave a positive alert for the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle. Officers seized over 200 bags of fentanyl, over $600 in U.S. Currency, and the vehicle as part of the investigation.
As a result, Hines and Eddy Roundtree were arrested and charged with the following:
- Melody Hines: 32 years of age, Selbyville, DE, possession with intent to distribute schedule I narcotic, CDS: possession- not marijuana, and distribute mixture with heroin and fentanyl. Hines was seen by a Maryland District Court Commissioner and held without bond.
- Eddy Deutromony Roundtree: 53 years of age, Lincoln, DE, possession with intent to distribute schedule I narcotic, CDS: possession- not marijuana, and distribute mixture with heroin and fentanyl. Roundtree was seen by a Maryland District Court Commissioner and held without bond.
