Finance Department

License Inspector

Finance Department/Billing and Collections office has an opening for a full/time License Inspector. Duties include independently processing over 15,000 annual renewal licenses for businesses, rental properties, tow signs and other activities, collection of fees, and enforcing compliance with Town licensing and other ordinances, issuing civil citations and providing testimony in court. This position requires excellent communication, writing, and customer service skills. Demonstrated computer skills are necessary, with the ability to utilize a variety of software applications. Minimum requirements: AA in accounting or business administration and two years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Successful candidate must possess a valid driver’s license and submit a 3-year driving record; pass a post offer drug test and background check. Ability to walk on various job and construction sites is essential. Starting salary is $45,619. Hours are Monday-Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm and occasional evenings and weekends. This position is open until filled.

City Manager’s Office

Internal Auditor

The Town of Ocean City, Maryland is seeking a skilled professional to monitor the Town’s financial transactions and certain internal processes to reduce the risk of waste, fraud and abuse. The Internal Auditor shall prepare financial reports, manage relationships with the auditees within the various departments and perform difficult and comprehensive analysis. Assignments require evaluative thinking and are carried out in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and practices, government and internal auditing standards, and in accordance with applicable Federal, State and local laws. This position requires the highest levels of sensitivity and confidentiality.

Minimum requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or Finance with a minimum of five years professional level auditing experience. At least one year of government sector internal auditing experience is strongly preferred. Certified Public Accountant license or CMA is desirable. Certified Internal Auditor and/or Certified Fraud Examiner certifications are preferred.

Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check. Hiring range is $67,400-$86,445 with generous benefit package. The starting salary is dependent upon qualifications and experience. Please submit an application by 4pm 10/1/21.

Plumbing Inspector

The Department of Planning and Community Development seeks qualified and experienced applicants for a full-time Plumbing Inspector position. Duties include performing regular review and inspection of plumbing/fuel gas plans for code, permit, and construction compliance along with the preparation of notices, citations and file documentation. Minimum requirements: High school diploma with technical training in plumbing and fuel gas systems, minimum 5 years of related experience, journey or master plumber/gas fitter license. ICC certifications for plumbing inspector, plumbing plans examiner, and fuel gas inspector preferred. Possess a valid driver’s license and submit a 3-year driving record; pass a post offer drug test and background check. Salary range for this position is up to $58,516 DOQ plus benefits.

Wastewater Department

Plant Operator I

Responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Wastewater Treatment Plant. Operating experience in a wastewater facility is desirable, but not necessary. Familiarity with rotating mechanical equipment is a plus. Responsibilities will include the following: inspect outlying pumping stations, check equipment, read meters and gauges, maintain logs and perform basic level laboratory tests plus housekeeping duties. Shift work is required. Candidate must be able to work in adverse weather conditions and lift up to 50lbs. with assistance. Must have high school diploma or GED, possess a valid driver’s license and submit a 3-year driving record; pass a post offer drug test, respiratory physical and background check. Once hired employee must actively seek and obtain a permanent Class 5 Wastewater Operator’s license. Entry-level salary is $32,448 plus benefits. Open Until Filled.

Service Center Garage

Vehicle Equipment Technician I

Repairs and maintains municipal automotive equipment; does related work as required. This is mechanical work at the apprenticeship level. A mechanic in this classification is expected to do general repairs on passenger cars, light and heavy-duty trucks, construction equipment, transit buses, etc. Requirements: Completion of a formal apprenticeship as an automotive services mechanic; or completion of high school or GED and experience in servicing, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and motor equipment; ASE certifications for light and heavy-duty vehicles. Must pass a pre-employment drug test, possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable record, and obtain a CDL license within six months of employment. Minimum annual salary is $39,407 plus benefits. This position is open until filled.
