JOB SUMMARY:

This is a non-sworn position within the police department that performs law enforcement related duties associated with the care and custody of seized evidence and found property as well as quarter master duties associated with operational/ enforcement supplies and police uniforms and related duty gear for sworn and non- sworn personnel.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Graduate from an accredited high school or General Education Degree (GED) with a proficiency in the understanding and use of office related software packages to include Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.

Must have a valid driver’s license

An Associates’ Degree from a college and/or technical school as well as one-year experience is preferred.

Must be able to successfully complete associated job-related training requirements as deemed by the Department within the first year of employment.

Must be able to successfully attain certifications associated with MILES/NCIC.

Must have an acceptable criminal history record and be able to meet all the background criteria set by Department to include successful completion of a polygraph examination.

City Manager’s Office

Internal Auditor

The Town of Ocean City, Maryland is seeking a skilled professional to monitor the Town’s financial transactions and certain internal processes to reduce the risk of waste, fraud and abuse. The Internal Auditor shall prepare financial reports, manage relationships with the auditees within the various departments and perform difficult and comprehensive analysis. Assignments require evaluative thinking and are carried out in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and practices, government and internal auditing standards, and in accordance with applicable Federal, State and local laws. This position requires the highest levels of sensitivity and confidentiality.

Minimum requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or Finance with a minimum of five years professional level auditing experience. At least one year of government sector internal auditing experience is strongly preferred. Certified Public Accountant license or CMA is desirable. Certified Internal Auditor and/or Certified Fraud Examiner certifications are preferred.

Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check. Hiring range is $71,000 – $89,500 with generous benefit package. The starting salary is dependent upon qualifications and experience. Application will be accepted through 02/13/2022.

CONVENTION CENTER

CONVENTION MAINTENANCE WORKER I

The Town of Ocean City MD and the Roland E Powell Convention Center seeks a qualified employee to direct the crew of building maintenance workers in housekeeping and setting up the Convention Center for events. Responsibilities include vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, washing windows, & dumping trash as well as other duties as may be assigned. Setting up consists of draping tables, detailing meeting rooms prior to use and assisting in set up and tear down of events. Also transports freight and furniture, etc. Ability to operate and train others on forklift and genie lift. Occasionally works in high level areas. Commitment to excellent customer service and a positive attitude is desired. Work is evaluated on the basis of adherence to instructions and actual results. Working knowledge of cleaning techniques, materials, equipment and safety regulations is preferred. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance. High school diploma or GED with two years’ experience performing setup for various facility users or equivalent combination of education and experience. Applicants must be flexible to work shifts as scheduled with ability to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays. Valid driver’s license required. Must pass a post offer drug test. Public Works/Construction Division

Heavy Equipment Operator

Operates a variety of heavy equipment including performing of preventive maintenance on all equipment used. Daily operation of equipment would include: wheeled and tracked equipment over ten tons, loader over five tons, excavator, dump truck, backhoe, and snow plow. When not operating equipment, will perform road maintenance, grading, paving, installing underground utility systems such as water mains, services, storm drains, sewer mains, and perform repairs on all. Must have a valid Class “A” CDL with endorsements for air brakes, combination vehicles, tankers and Haz Mat endorsement preferred; current DOT physical card, and supply a copy of current driving record. Must have high school diploma or GED. Ability to lift weight up to 50 lbs. and pass a post offer drug test. Entry level salary is $38,837 plus benefits. This position is open until filled.

Recreation & Parks Department

Crew Leader

Leads work crews and individual workers engaged in the maintenance, repair and improvement of parks, recreation facilities, athletic fields, public grounds, landscapes and greenways, irrigation, and designated public areas. Assists and provides support for Recreation Programs and Special Events Department. Works closely with Parks Supervisors and Parks Superintendent to perform related administrative functions as needed. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in parks management, landscaping, horticulture or related field. Excellent problem solving skills, ability to foster a harmonious work environment and ability to work in a fast paced environment are required. Must be well versed in, willing and capable of performing all tasks associated with park maintenance operations. Supervisory experience and computer skills are desirable. State of Maryland Dept. of Agriculture Certification in Right-Of-Way & Weed or Turf or Exterior Ornamentals, State of Maryland Professional Fertilizer Applicator, and Maryland Roadside Tree Care Expert certification are required within eighteen (18) months of appointment, contingent upon adequate training / testing opportunities. Candidate must possess a valid driver’s license with less than four (4) points, pass a pre-employment drug test and background check. Starting salary is $42,614 plus benefits. Wastewater Department

Plant Operator I

Responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Wastewater Treatment Plant. Operating experience in a wastewater facility is desirable, but not necessary. Familiarity with rotating mechanical equipment is a plus. Responsibilities will include the following: inspect outlying pumping stations, check equipment, read meters and gauges, maintain logs and perform basic level laboratory tests plus housekeeping duties. Shift work is required. Candidate must be able to work in adverse weather conditions and lift up to 50lbs. with assistance. Must have high school diploma or GED, possess a valid driver’s license and submit a 3-year driving record; pass a post offer drug test, respiratory physical and background check.
