Part-time Recreation Coordinator

The town of Ocean City Recreation and Parks Department is seeking someone to join our Recreation Programs team. The Recreation Coordinator is a year-round part-time position that works directly with Recreation programs. The position plans, develops, implements and supervises all phases of recreational programs with a strong emphasis on adult sports, youth sports, camps, and activities. Work includes program evaluation and reporting; budget proposal, monitoring, and control; prepares reports for new and existing programs; and recruits, interviews, selects, trains and supervises part-time staff. Must be proficient in oral and written communications and be computer literate. Schedule includes evenings and some weekends and holidays, shifts could include 4 to 6 days a week, no benefits. Must have experience in Recreation/Parks or related field, two years’ experience in recreation programming and education in the field of recreation preferred. Must possess a valid driver’s license and complete a pre-employment drug test and background check. $20.89/hour/30hrs per week. This position will be open until filled.

Fire Safety Inspector

(Part-Time Year-Round)

The Fire Safety Inspector is an entry-level position in the Ocean City Fire Department: Fire Marshals Office, and will be responsible for applicable work in fire prevention and code enforcement for the department.

Candidates’ primary function will be performing work in the enforcement of state and local fire and life safety codes and ordinances. Schedule is predominantly day-work, however seasonal assignments will include evening/weekend assignments for special events, and/or beach bonfire enforcement. Other duties may be assigned.

Surf Rescue Tech/Lifeguard

The Beach Patrol will continue conducting pre-employment physical skills evaluations (PEPSE) for the 2021 season. We will begin our off-site evaluations on Sunday, March 7, 2021 at the Salisbury, Maryland YMCA. There are no pre-certification requirements and experience in ocean rescue is not necessary to apply or be hired. All training and certifications will be provided in a paid ($15.60 hr.) Surf Rescue Academy, which is being conducted in Ocean City in May or June of 2021.

Although pre-registration is not required, candidates are strongly encouraged to pre-register for the test by visiting www.ococean.com/ocbp The Beach Patrol requires acceptable proof of age of all candidates, which can be a driver’s license, birth certificate or U.S. passport. Without proper proof of age, applicants will not be permitted to participate. In addition, applicants must be 17 years old or older prior to June 28, 2021, and those under 18 must be accompanied by a legal guardian during the entire testing process.

Afterschool Activities Coordinator

If you enjoy working with children, being outside, and are full of creative energy, then the Afterschool Activities Coordinator is the job or you. The work schedule of two days a week offers flexibility for candidates with other work, school, and personal obligations. The current work schedule is Tuesday & Thursday 3pm-6pm. Children grades K-4th will join us for activities after their schoolwork is completed from 4-5:30pm. The coordinator’s responsibilities include planning, organizing, and implementing daily activities including, but not limited to, sports, games, crafts, nature exploring, and other age-appropriate activities. The current session runs September 15th – October 22nd with the possibility of expanding to more days when schools return to in-person instruction.
