DISORDERLY SIGNS

In September 2015, the Town of Ocean City Mayor and City Council passed an ordinance requiring the posting of signs on select properties throughout town advising citizens that disorderly conduct is prohibited.

According to the ordinance, the following properties with parking fronting Baltimore Avenue, Coastal Highway, or Philadelphia Avenue are required to post signage:

• Restaurants, shops, shopping centers, stores, taverns, or other places of business;
• Condominium and apartment buildings with four or more dwelling units;
• Hotels or motels;
• Places used for public resort or amusement, including amusement parks, miniature golf courses, and theaters;
• Places of worship that have parking fronting Baltimore Avenue, Coastal Highway, or Philadelphia Avenue shall post the property with signage provided by the Town of Ocean City and installed by the owner at location(s) approved by the Ocean City Police Department.

Property owners that meet the criteria and do not have proper signage in place could be subject to a progressive fine of $50 for the first infraction and $100 if not reconciled within ten days.
